Much has been reported in recent years about America's growing obesity epidemic. As a journalist, you're faced with the challenge of finding new angles and local sources to keep this often-told story fresh and new.
Last year, to assist you in your coverage of the obesity epidemic, NCABR and Research!America hosted an educational media forum about obesity prevention and treatment research. This year, we're hosting a companion program to address new coverage angles and untold obesity stories.
Join us for "Health Risks of Obesity: The Latest in Medical Research" to get brought up to speed about the state of the obesity epidemic in 2005. Come learn about the devastating and oftentimes deadly health risks associated with weight gain and obesity, including heart and liver disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes and various childhood health and development issues. Learn about the economic toll taken by these associated health risks and what is being done in North Carolina medical research laboratories to break the link between obesity and its devastating health consequences.
This educational media forum is part of an ongoing series of NCABR and Research!America programs that encourages exchange between researchers and journalists about high profile issues at the intersection of science and society.
